Overview: Amazon sword (Echinodorus spp.) is a popular and hardy aquatic plant commonly used in freshwater aquariums. Known for its large, broad leaves, it provides excellent cover for fish and adds a lush, green aesthetic to the tank.

Lighting:

• Moderate to High: Amazon swords thrive under moderate to high lighting. Insufficient light can lead to slower growth and smaller leaves.
• Duration: Aim for 10-12 hours of light per day.

Water Conditions:

• Temperature: 72-82°F (22-28°C).
• pH: 6.5-7.5. It prefers slightly acidic to neutral water.
• Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water (3-8 dGH).

Substrate:

• Nutrient-rich: Amazon swords have extensive root systems and benefit from a nutrient-rich substrate like aquarium soil or planted tank substrate.
• Root Tabs: Supplementing with root tabs every few months can help provide essential nutrients.

Planting and Placement:

• Depth: Plant the Amazon sword deeply enough to cover the roots, but keep the crown (where the leaves meet the roots) above the substrate to prevent rot.
